Keep an eye on the Groove blog

Groove has been posting to their blog like crazy this last week, in the preparations of the upcoming Doll Carnival this Sunday. They've posted several entries showing outfits which will be for sale (made by different Pullip customizers/dealers), and they've also finally decided to release the long since planned BJD Hawahh, a 57cm beauty - I hope they use "proper" resin this time so that they will be on topic for DoA!

Two exciting upcoming bjd dolls

I was never a huge fan of the grumpy, grimacing, yet fun looking Mui-Chan, but the upcoming December release looks really promising! Seems as Ixtee is doing the pure cuteness routine this time, keeping her characteristic look but giving her face a more relaxed expression. I love their attention to detail when it comes to accessories, but of course that doesn't help much if you don't like the doll itself. More about Mui-Chan ) If you have more knowledge about this type of doll, please share!

Another new doll that has caught my attention, is the Monochrome Luxes bjd series from Ondormi. The dolls are beautiful, and the designers have a great sense of humour - can't really beat that!

I don't know how tall these are, but they were promoted at the tinybjd.com message board, which leads me to think that they're probably 1:6 or thereabouts. They are 44cm tall, meaning a little bit more than average MSD size (which is 40cm for girls). They look incredibly cute, and there's a mix'n'match system when you purchase a doll. Monochrome Luxes details )

The store opens on December 5, I have my alarm clock set! ;) In the mean time, I am watching their flickr and Facebook profiles. It's also possible to play with the doll builder and read about the dolls on the official website.

Doll Carnival 2009 auction dolls

Groove posted pics of the custom dolls to be auctioned at next weekend's Doll Carnival, and below are my favourites. Which one's yours? (check the site, there are more!)

"Attic storage" by @ nai LABO X MOMOLITA
"Knights of the attic" by MOMOLITA X haco

I have a feeling gtranslate doesn't quite get the names of the three last dolls...

Sabrina promo pics
Nomado daydreaming
[info]moeeeh
European dealer Atelier Yume has posted promo pics of the March 2010 Pullip, the rumoured Audrey Hepburn character "Sabrina". Most probably the Dumbo/Pinocchio pics will follow later today. I like her (the Pullip), but I think Princess Ann is prettier. I love short haired Pullips. ;)

Also, the Groove blog has picked up on German dealer plasticpop.de's clever marketing stunt, the mini website made for the visual kei release - Sue has turned them into a band for real, they're named ->[ plas:ti:Ka ]<-, and presented in the most awesome manner, complete with a music sample and all. :)

And OMG! the mini Dal IS indeed a mini Jouet, check this cute little one out! I easily predict this to be the most popular mini release EVER..!

Pinocchio and Dumbo are also up there, but I am not convinced.

Annoyed with HLJ
Nomado daydreaming
[info]moeeeh
Like probably a few on my flist, I took advantage of the recent Paypal/EMS deal at HobbyLink Japan, and on Friday I snagged the last Dal Angry in stock. I got a notice saying that the order was registered but because of the weekend it wouldn't be typed into the HLJ system properly until Monday. I was fine with that, noting that Angry had been marked as sold on the site and with the order confirmation sitting in my inbox. Then, today (Tuesday) I get a no-sense email saying "Bad News from HLJ: Discontinued Item Notice. Despite many months of attempting to locate stock on item(s) shown below, we have been unsuccessful. We have contacted the manufacturer and understand that, at this time, they have no plans to produce this again the foreseeable future. As such, we have removed this item from your outstanding order." WTF? Many months of searching?? The item was in stock at the time I ordered it, three days ago, for crying out loud. Needless to say, I am quite miffed and not at all happy with the service. I am currently waiting for a reply from HLJ and will update if they take the time to explain what happened here.

I scored at the VOTD specials sale, though )

March 2010 - Disney collab
Nomado daydreaming
[info]moeeeh
One of the European Pullip dealers has had a small slip of tongue, and it seems as the two to the right - Dumbo and Pinocchio - are in the March release group.

I wonder which Pullip they will add to the release, perhaps one of the princesses? Which one would you rather see?

Byul Dumbo and Dal Pinocchio photo taken by atelier_yume - not the dealer in question - at a visit of theirs with the Groove headquarters, heavily edited by yours truly. A strong indicator of the release rumors actually being true is that this particular photo is removed from the atelier_yume flickr stream, and other photos have these two dolls blurred out when accidentally showing in the background of pics of other dolls.

Update Nov 8: same European dealer says that the Pullip will be yet another Audrey Hepburn, this time Sabrina.

Hellcatpunks preorders at PullipStyle: $100 each!

Kain, Phoebe, Chelsea - pretty awesome! I think I'll go for Phoebe, the discount equals the shipping cost to Norway. Hopefully the preorder period lasts until December..!

Chantilly - soooo cute! Doll Carnival limited 2009

Awwwww....!! <3 :D I want to go to Japan even more than before, now. ;)

I love her hair and hair colour, and the dress is fab too. Her faceup is amazing, just my cup of tea!

Birthday money, be gone..! (Feb 2010 release)
Nomado daydreaming
[info]moeeeh
For someone who find the h.Naoto collabs among the best releases, the February 2010 trio seems really REALLY promising..!

I absolutely love their stock outfits, amazing detail and several items to choose from with each doll. Take a look at their jackets here )

I am, however, not thrilled about their somewhat bland faceup. What's your opinion? )

There's no sign of them at the Groove blog nor frickart yet, so I have no idea about their pricing. Frickart says 10900 yen, which translates to rougly US$120 (Groove says $151 (!), but I believe there's a national tax on toys/goods in Japan - their mentioned price was quite higher the last time as well). The Hellcatpunks name is a fashion brand, though, so I am guessing at least $118 as with the other recent collabs.

German/European dealer plasticpop.de has loads of pics at their flickr stream!

Edited: The minis are pretty neat too, meet Vivi (mini Fanatica much?) and Janice:

Selling a few girls and one boy, plus a bjd
Nomado daydreaming
[info]moeeeh
I am selling a few Pullips and a Namu over at ShopaDollic. You don't need to be a member to read the topic, and you are welcome to respond by sending me a message here on LJ or by sending off an email to pixelbirdie@gmail.com

The topic will be updated tomorrow with more "revealing" pictures - as for now, here's a mosaic from their flickr sets:

For adoption

The BJD is a Cherishdoll Faith Chubby without horns, he's got a lovely faceup by a Norwegian artist and will come nude in his original box, with a Cherishdoll wig and a pair of acrylic eyes (choose between dark blue, brown or magenta). The dove grey glass eyes are _not_ part of the deal unless you want to cover their cost ($40). I want US$180 for him (he's $205 at the Cherishdoll website with wig and faceup). Click the pic to go to his flickr set:

Pics and info snagged from Groove's blog today. Tax retail price for all three dolls will be 10,500 yen (US$118) each. All three come with removable fangs.

Update: Suemomo (of plasticpop.de, the European dealer) has several awesome pics on her flickr stream!

Happihoridi's campaign - vampires semi-officially announced
Nomado daydreaming
[info]moeeeh
Groove and frickart posts today about the Happihoridi's campaign (Happy Holidays, gotta love gTranslate..). It's the previously mentioned "buy one large doll, get one Little Pullip or Dal for free" campaign, and the targeted dolls are all three Hime Gyaru dolls (Dec) and the Vampire trio (Jan - or, as it says: to be announced for January):

The minis will be randomly picked, of both generations, and may be display dolls (we are warned against minor flaws and production errors). The vampire Dal looks neat!!

I can has a shipping notice!!

I can't wait.. <3

Yayyyyy!!!

I also finally got a shipping notice on the full set of hands I ordered for the Brownies - it's going to be a good week for tinies (and me), methinks.

Aha, even more exitement before the Doll Carnival!

According to the owner of European Pullip dealer PlasticPop.de, Pullip's little brother Isul/Eseul will finally be introduced during the Doll Carnival!

Interesting piece of info added to Doll Carnival program
Nomado daydreaming
[info]moeeeh
The English version of the entry I tried translating last week has been published, revealing one important piece of information that I'd missed out on: they will be presenting the December 2009 to April 2010 releases! Will keep my eyes peeled for pics from that show..!

One of those procrastinator entries..
Nomado daydreaming
[info]moeeeh
This weekend has been (still is...) a weekend of work for me; a freelance job _has_ to be finished within the next couple of days (already way too late with it). Since my freelance work is what supports my doll hobby, why not take a few minutes off to post in my doll journal? ;)

I recently received a _huge_ surprise package from my BFF [info]cutsiedotnet: a Cinnamoroll Dal (my first Dal wishlister), her box safely cushioned by no less than four Cinnamoroll plushies, a whole load of Cinnamoroll notepaper sheets, stickers and other stationery goodies - but perhaps most appreciated (yep, I am spoiled!): a huuuuuuuge lot of her home made dollie fashions! Here are a few pics as teasers for many MANY pics to come. Oren was chosen mainly because someone asked for pictures of the clothes on a type 2 body, but some of these outfits simply seem to be made for her! Chicklet got a day off from her usual black&blues; all pics are clickable to view larger:

xoxo Collection top, skirt, socks xoxo Collection kimono xoxo Collection summer top xoxo Collection top

Clothes from xoxo Collection are very well made, and I love the many styles options and fabrics choices. Many of these clothes are stuff I would wear myself, which is a major plus when I decide on outfits for my "girls". If you haven't commissioned clothes from her yet, she's got four slots available (last time I checked).

First Blythe - not really
Nomado daydreaming
[info]moeeeh
I've been pondering whether to get a Blythe, but decided I don't like any of the default ones enough to shell out the money for one (after all, you can get BJDs for that kind of money.. ;) ). Then recently, I found a "cheap" merchant on eBay ($70 a doll, Ashton Drake), and played with the thought of getting a doll to customize. However, before I got around to that, [info]cutsiedotnet made me aware of the Blythe replicas called Color Changing Eyes dolls. I just won an auction this evening, and will have this girl coming my way soon:

- or a similar one, as they state that the outfit might not be the same as on the pic... I actually rather hope it will be either the one to the far right or the one to the left on this pic. (Edited a few hours later: the seller has promised to send me the red-and-black haired one..!) Now to look for eyes, rerooting tutorials (I don't see myself doing that anytime soon, though), and prepare for some heavy faceup modifications! My can of Mr Super Clear flat is ready!

In other doll related news, the Moxies have made it to Norway! I am not getting any, they are way too expensive (US$35 and up for the basic ones). That's Norwegian toy prices for you, yay for eBay..! I did score a Bratz doll today, though - I got a Cloe rock star for $17 (which is below 50% of her normal selling price here). Poor girl will have her clothes harvested and instruments taken from her, and be handed to a 5 year old tomorrow. ;)
