I know I'd written off Blythe

  • Jul. 2nd, 2009 at 9:28 AM
.. but this one looks really, really promising!!

The face type is Radiance, and skin tone is fair.
She has gray eye shadow
(the best part!! I don't like the yellowish eye shadow which is so commonly used on Blythe) with pink blush and lips match her fair skin.
Her hair style is a black bob cut with bangs.

Hmm...

October Pullip & Co - Peter Pan

  • Jul. 1st, 2009 at 1:25 PM
Again the release is a line which has been spotted on doll shows, this time the Disney collab Peter Pan. I actually quite like the Pullip (she would have to be rewigged, though!), Tinkerbell is cute - and the Tae..? Rrrroar!! ;) Without the moustache he's really, really good looking!

Pics under the cut )

The Byuls have yet to persuade me into liking them.. I had hopes for the Angelig Pretty one, but that fell through when they changed her hair and eye chips. Tigerlily doesn't do anything for me at all. I believe it's their absent minded empty stare combined with the drooping mouth which makes me feel meh about them.

Groove Inc has not yet published the October release on their blog, but frickart has the dolls for preorder in their shop and pics on their blog. Price wise, they seem to be cheaper than collabs normally tend to be.
While MGA Entertainment may have lost the rights to Bratz to Mattel (the designer of Bratz worked for Mattel at the time that he came up with the idea of Bratz), they are not lost to the doll world - at all. There's a brand new MGA fashion doll line called Moxie Girlz coming up, and I am really intrigued by the looks of them! They're also releasing dolls for the Best Friends Club trademark, again with very neat outfits. Now, besides my Pullip family and the odd Asian doll, I am not a fashion doll collector, but I do pay attention to lines like Barbie, MyScene, and to some extent Bratz, for the purpose of harvesting outfits. These new lines have some absolutely wicked ones!

Another Audrey Hepburn Pullip!

  • Jun. 19th, 2009 at 2:54 PM
Remember this blog entry?

Groove has just announced her as the September Pullip, yay! I absolutely love her, her stock is gorgeous and so is her faceup! Although I've kind of reached a point of satisfaction when it comes to Pullips, this one is definitely on my wishlist! Now, if they'd only made a Gregory Peck or even a Clark Gable Tae, and not that evil Sebastian..! ;)

September 09 release - Kuroshitsuji set #2

  • Jun. 11th, 2009 at 6:49 PM
Thanks to [info]kochan I found that frickart claims the Sep 09 Tae and Dal releases - "on popular demand" - will be the second Kuroshitsuji set seen on a couple of doll shows. This would mean cross-dressing Ciel and tutor Sebastian, with eyes even more evil than before. I am happy to be cured for my Kuroshitsuji craze, there's no way I would let that Tae inside my house..! *spooked out* The Dal is cute, but I am not convinced. Too heavily into BJDs right now, any new Pullip related purchases would have to be _must-haves_..! Pics under the cut! )

BJD fever

  • Jun. 7th, 2009 at 2:08 PM
Spent a few hours at [info]silence_bliss' yesterday, letting her work her magic (as in glue gun) on a handful of my pretties - and not so pretties (as in Hujoos..):

Idril working wonders

The latest addition to the family came along, he's a twin brother to my "big guy", an Angel of Dream SD of a mold called Mo. He's got a beautiful custom faceup, which makes me even more eager to redo the one my other guy has (I've already done my best in ruining it, by washing him with a magic sponge - kids, that's not a clever thing to do if you want to remove dirt only and not the faceup..). The newcomer arrived sporting a long, red synthetic wig, but was promptly given a brown fur wig - leaving my poor Yuhi (Namu Vispo) bald.. Click for more pictures, there's a girl too )

Geek entry

  • Jun. 5th, 2009 at 12:54 PM
Yum, I just ordered this snazzy skin for my Acer Aspire One, will look great against the sapphire blue, methinks! Some of you may recognize the motive, Katsushika Hokusai's "The Great Wave" (I was a bit surprised to see all the fine arts pieces the shop offered, but I reckon they've got their back covered as far as copyright goes..).

Other than that - just counting the hours left of this working week; 3.5 as this is written... Gah, it's been such a straining week, even with Monday off. Off to the post office after work, to pick up a twin brother for my SD bjd, so anxious to see how they get along! ;)

Bummer

I just learned that changing the permission on flickr photos also generates new URLs for the related images (the "All sizes" versions)... Meaning: I have quite a few "photo not available" pictures posted right now.

I think this is kind of stupid, actually - since making a photo private still allows you as the owner to link the different sizes of a picture, why change the URLs if you edit the permission level? Meh.

Groove Inc has launched promisingly..

.. but they need to hire a professional photographer!

I don't think there's one single photo except for the bag close up which is focused correctly... and what's with the dull colours? Weird, for such a bright and colourful line.

Spotlight: Zolala!

  • May. 27th, 2009 at 7:50 PM
Today I came across a Dutch doll collector with such an amazing artistic vein and taste in dolls, I just _have_ to share. She has three U-noas, and make the most fantastic outfits, just the style I love seeing on dolls. Example pictures:

I hope you'll enjoy browsing as much as I just did!

Groove Inc is now proudly presenting their collab with Mr. ANJERIKKUPURITI. Mr. what?? Read it again, slowly. XD XD

Other than that, the Angelic Pretty (XD) dolls are now displayed on the AP website; http://www.angelicpretty.com/ I am still not swayed, I want the prototype Dal and Byul back. :P

You can have your iPhones

  • May. 24th, 2009 at 10:30 PM
I want this one!! *dies* We don't have Verizon here, so if I was to purchase it, I would have to shell out close to $1200... Do I need to mention that it's not going to happen? But gah, a girl can dream, can't she?

I've spent the day putting up a tent/pavillion on our terrace - with good help from my neighbour, since my s/o decided it was time to leave for some important work stuff just as we were about to start mounting it.. I fined him for it, though, meaning I will be able to pay for some of the misc dollie items I've arranged to purchase a week ahead of time. Hehe! ;) Zuora's boots, a single Butler sock, a pair of Nike trainers (for my TYs) on eBay, perhaps a Pullip scalp if that deal goes through.

I hate it when stuff from my want list becomes available the last week of the month - I am guaranteed to be out of dollie money then.. :( Thank you to all patient doll sellers out there, willing to do a hold for broke but craving buyers. <3

New-ish message board

  • May. 23rd, 2009 at 2:23 PM
A couple of days ago I "accidentally" came across a link to a new message board for tiny BJDs, and I have to say that so far I love it there. The forum system is brilliant, and the members are really nice and welcoming. On some BJD forums, I find that there is quite a lot of eliticism and focus on goth/BL/adult themes, but this is certainly not the case here! So many adorable tinies to marvel at, and really nice feedback on your own posts. If you are a lover of tiny BJDs, I recommend joining - I'd love to see this place work out!

Oh, and I believe there's a referral system - my username there is birdie. :)

I mentioned a few changes I've done to some of my girls, and here be the pictures.

Cut for length, 5 pics behind this link )

So, only two posts ago I said that RIDa could wait - and now I've arranged to purchase one by the end of next week... :P I already have her outfit, and have been looking for a nude (even bald) one for a reasonable price and in good condition. I've purchased from [info]kochan before, and am thrilled to be able to do it again. Thank you so much for doing a hold!

Hmmmm, interesting steampunk prototypes

  • May. 21st, 2009 at 1:13 PM
So, steampunk is obviously a quite popular fashion wave, and judging by Scot's subtle hints over at the Valley Talk forum, Groove Inc is aiming to please. I guess these pictures from the recent Tokyo Dollshow only confirms this, and I am actually quite intrigued - by the Pullip ad Dal especially. Perhaps time to find my Steamboy merchandise and go for a steampunk diorama? These would easily become display dolls!

Final AP pictures released

  • May. 20th, 2009 at 10:14 PM
So, it was true after all, even if Scot at VotD had his doubts about which was the prototype and which was the final product - the final AP collab dolls are just as overloaded and colour mismatched as I was dreading.. :( Meet - ltr - Maretti, Sfoglia, and Cocotte (click for larger view):

Angelic Pretty collab Pullip

I guess, with the financial crises (hitting my workplace right now), and my wish for an U-noa Chibi (not cheap..!), it's only a good thing that none of the upcoming Pullip releases are tempting me. I want RIDa and Adsiltia, and they can wait.

On a sidenote, I am quite a bit confused about the ongoing bankruptcy / non-bankruptcy thing with Jun Planning, seems as none of the western based dealers (US and Europe alike) are being informed at all. Groove Inc has their logo on the AP pictures, I hope the transmission over to them as distributors goes well for all parts included. PullipStyle seems to have the most control, it's from them I've got the pictures for the collage above. VotD hasn't got the preorder page nor any pictures (they _have_ been busy this week, moving their store to Royal T), nor does PlasticPop.de. Edit: Scot just put up the release pictures at the Valley Talk forum as I was writing my entry.

Lots of smaller changes, no photos - yet )

As of today I've finally started adding stuff to my dA account (I've had it for a year, and lurked for years ahead of that..). I will most probably not add too many dolls/toys pictures, but perhaps I'll hopefully still see some of you around. :)
